I am always more than excited to hear or learn how our mother appreciate the clean birth/new born kit .

Our team in Kebbi state visited the maternity unit of the (SYMH) hospital on 8th August, 2014 at 10:00am to access the impact of the sensitization meeting previously held on 1 KIT SAVES 2 project to improve quality of care and access to to maternal and new born health services at the health facilities

The ANC services has commenced as we arrived the premises, OC maternity introduced us to the women as she appreciates Traffina Foundation Community Health and Medicaid Radiology who initiated this project in kebbi state, in the fight to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality rate in Kebbi State.

In an interview with some selected women, they all testify that the clean birth kit was what encouraged and moved them to come to deliver at the health center , adding that they couldn’t resist to come because of the kit, which has helped saved there lives and that of baby. Mariam says (translated)“ the kit was my attraction and this is my first time to delivery at the health center, now I have also had opportunity to immunize my baby , the midwife took care of me and my baby very well. I have learnt a lot on how to care for my child, how to recorgnize danger signs of ill-ness on my baby and how to do ORS.

Another mother AISHA says (translated) “ I am, glad to have an alive baby, many times I gave birth at home , they never lived more than 3weeks , i thought i was cursed , not knowing the environment and the quack has been contributing to this, when I was told about the free birth kit , I confirmed from my friend and also like the kit so much because it’s beautiful . I am using the bag (kit) now as my baby immunization bag..Thank you TFCH & Medicaid, my baby is 6weeks today and i am more than excited.

While Others says they kit has been very helpful as all they need for the baby during delivery ,virtually all their needs are catered for in the kit, they are all using their mosquito treated nets to prevent malaria for newborn/under-5. They express their sincere gratitude to Traffina foundation & Dr. Zainab and desired continuity of the programme.

My joy knows know bound, as i see the daily progress ending maternal and infant mortality in Nigeria. It make look difficult to end, but with this little impact we are getting there.
